Hi, I am formerly from New Jersey and I can tell you life in Alaska is about as different as you can get from the Tri-State area and still be in the US. I love it here, I can’t believe it took me 40 years to go West. Way, way Northwest. I am not a cheechako, (Alaskan Greenhorn), by any means. I have survived and loved five and a half winters in Alaska and look forward to many more. I am an oddity up here in loving the short dark days of winter. The Aurora doesn’t suck, the scenery is surreal, the amount and size of wildlife is just wild, the fish swim vast distances to end up in your dip net and the midnight sun makes you do crazy things. I live in this great state with my husband, five year old daughter and the four legged family, Goose our loving, intensely devoted but neurotic German Shepherd dog, our potty trained house rabbit, Half-Pint, Miss Cleo the psychic kitty and a large breeding pair of Comet goldfish.
Drop by and say hello. I’m Georgia in Alaska, a little bit of Jersey in the last frontier.
Welcome to my world,
Georgia Barkwood
